Wow that certainly is a downgrade in space I'm sure. I would assume the new space is a loft ? if not perhaps using a cool screen divider for the bed area.

Interior design and architecture have always interested me. What I would first do is decide upon your spaces and how you plan on moving around and living in them. Also can you paint the walls or ceilings? The right paint color can open up a room and make it lively. warmer color would be more invited and cooler colors more sterile. If you have any windows that you can put a mirror directly across from and higher up it will also light up the space with more natural light. That will make it seem bigger too.

For the bathroom or the main space a cool idea might be to get an old window frame and put those tiny mirrors in it and hang them on the wall like windows. It will give you natural light and make it look more open. I am gonna have to check out Domino. Haven't heard of it. Dwell is good magazine too.

Just moved into my new place as well and have been trying to decide on some different aspects of the layout.

Good luck !

ReadyMade this month has a cute little feature on making a dog house with a "rooftop" succulent garden. And, of course, Home Depot is a great place to pick up plants because they will replace them if they die within a year of ownership. Seems like a good way to start small.

Well that little bit of knowledge threw me ! I thought these "new" drinks were from foreign cities outside the US. That Dublin Dr. Pepper actually might be the only soft drink that I drink.

Now I'm gonna have to look up that Mexican coke!

I will say that i am not a huge fan of straight zebra or leopard print but patterns i do have a passion for whether they be birds or not. I will say that the higher detailed the print the more vested interest I will to have have in the fabric. The print like the "ink an spindle" and the "old bird fabric" do tend to appeal to me more than the others but the detailed prints do have a certain charm that if applied to the right piece of furniture can be more elegant than any stylized design.

I would agree some of those are quite out there in terms of design. My guess is that most of them are for high end displays and not for use. Some however could be pretty comfy like that tennis ball chair. In the end I think it all kinda comes down to the "WOW" factor personal taste. Some design is functional and some is purely esthetic designed to get you interested, like advertising. Mixing the two is a delicate balance.

A book that I have that you might want to check is ecoDesign. It has some examples of the different types of recycled material furniture with descriptions but in the back there are hundreds of resources with website and contact info. The copy that I have is a revised version so there may even be another out now.
Another book is the " The Look of the Century". Is has examples of designs for almost anything you could think of from the 20th century. It also has hundreds of pictures and examples.
